The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Flood Victim Guidelines

  • Complete a Flood Application on each client
  • Issue multiple vouchers to each client depending on what are to be used and what services are to be provided to the client
  • Address immediate needs first (basic human needs: food, shelter, clothing)
  • Long term needs should be indicated and client can be advised that follow up needs to take place.  They will need to return after the immediate needs are in place.

Immediate need services which can be provided now

  • Hotel/Motels (suite) - provide several days on one week at a time
  • Cleaning supplies (up to $100)
  • School supplies for children ($40 maximum per child)
  • Clothing (up to $100 per person in household)
  • Meals (as needed)
  • Prescription (only those which have been lost in flooding)
  • Hygiene materials (up to $100 per family)
  • Home repair (including electrician inspection for restoration of electricity) - up to $250

Long term needs which can be reviewed once immediate needs are met

  • Rent Assistance for new rental (one months rent - NO SECURITY DEPOSITS) If clients are forced to move from current location, this would be a possiblility
  • Furniture/large appliances: ONLY MATTRESSES, REFRIGERATORS, AND STOVES
  • Hot Water Tanks
  • Assistance with Furnace repair/replacement
  • Assistance with insurance deductibles
